Andrew Ross Sorkin is the latest addition to CNBC's morning line-up. The New York Times columnist and DealBook founder should already be familiar with the role as the new co-host of "Squawk Box," since he's been a frequent guest host recently. Sorkin is also the author of Too Big to Fail, an award-winning best-seller on the financial crisis and Washington's response. Joining fellow co-hosts Becky Quick and Joe Kernen, Sorkin will  beginning on Monday, though he will continue to contribute to The New York Times, where he writes about mergers and acquisitions.

Here's some of the statement from CNBC senior vice president about Sorkin's new role and now former "Squawk Box" host Carl Quintanilla's exit, via TV Newser, which first reported the hire:

Replacing Carl on Squawk Box is no easy task, but we are thrilled to announce that Andrew Ross Sorkin is joining the CNBC team to co-host Squawk Box every morning with Joe and Becky. As a CNBC contributor, Andrew has long been an extended member of both the CNBC and Squawk families, and we’re pleased he will now be a part of our morning team. Through his articles and columns, his book “Too Big to Fail,” and his appearances on CNBC and elsewhere, he has proven to be one of the premier financial journalists in the country. Andrew will continue to write his widely read column for The New York Times, which has an online partnership with CNBC, as well as help oversee DealBook, the online news site he founded.
