Longtime Poynter media blogger Jim Romenesko has announced his pseudo-retirement from the site, reports the Huffington Post. "In Jan. 2012, Romenesko will launch his own site--JimRomenesko.com--and become a part-time staffer for Poynter. He'll post casually to the media-news blog, the soon-to-be renamed "Romenesko+," and will continue tweeting from the @romenesko and @poynter Twitter accounts." He's going into his version of retirement he told Poynter Online Director Julie Moos. "Jim will post “casually” to his namesake blog on Poynter.org. We expect that’ll mean a few items a day."
The new site won't differ much subject-wise, as the tagline of his forthcoming site suggests. "A blog about media ... and other things I'm interested in." Instead of his usual aggregation, he will perform more face-to-face interviews and reporting. And of course he has the liberty to write about things other than the media.
