It's a match made in liberal heaven. In a tweet this morning, Current TV co-founder and former vice president Al Gore announced the hiring of liberal pundit Cenk Uygur to host his own week night show at 7 p.m. "I'm pleased to welcome Cenk Uygur and @TheYoungTurks to @Current," Gore said. The move comes after MSNBC replaced Uygur, co-founder of the Internet radio show The Young Turks, with Al Sharpton to host its 6 p.m. time slot. When Uygur left the liberal cable network, he criticized it as being too "establishment" for his progressive instincts. "I didn’t want to work in a place that wouldn’t let me do my kind of show, that wasn’t interested in my kind of show, that didn’t want to challenge power." In a nod to Uygur's kissoff with MSNBC, Gore introduce the hire in a video by saying, "we want you to keep on speaking truth to power without fear or favor, you're on a truly independent network now." Grinning from ear to ear, Uygur responds "That's why I'm here. I love it. I want to be independent, aggressive and progressive." The icing on the cake is the video's mood music, the 80s arena rocker "Eye of the Tiger" by Survivor.
