The mini-exodus at Slate is continuing: A little more than two weeks after Slate laid off four journalists, including columnists Jack Shafer and Timothy Noah, another senior staffer is leaving. "John Swansburg, its culture editor, is going to newyorker.com," reports WWD. "Swansburg will become newyorker.com's first online culture editor." WWD adds that The New Yorker is snatching up Swansburg, a four-year Slate veteran, "on the heels of its biggest traffic month ever" and seems to be making progress in its slow-going mission to grow its web presence. Slate's staff seems happy, if a little down about their colleague's departure. "Congrats to @swansburg on his move to the NYer," tweeted Slate tech writer Farhad Manjoo. "(He wrote the best Slate rant ever.)"
