The 17th annual Vanity Fair New Establishment list has 7 women as a part of the "the top 50 of an innovative new breed of buccaneering visionaries, engineering prodigies, and entrepreneurs." That's not even up from last year, which registered  8 female leaders as part of the "New Establishment." "If there are this few women in the New Establishment in 2011, then we've got a problem - of ascension, or perception," as Mediaite editor-at-large Rachel Sklar put it in a tweet. Either way, it's sad.

The list has some other curious rankings. We wonder if Sean Parker would have even made it without The Social Network? And, in that case, shouldn't Justin Timberlake, who rounds the list out at 50, sit higher than Parker? Mark Zuckerberg holds the coveted top spot for the second year in a row.
