Perhaps in an effort to exorcise some of the "ghosts" from its newsroom, The Washington Post reportedly offered New York Times assistant managing editor Richard Berke the managing editor position it's had open since late January, but he turned it down. Jim Romenesko reported that he'd confirmed the news, and Politico's Dylan Byers wrote that the talks with Berke fell apart this week, meaning the Post is still a ways off from replacing Raju Narisetti, who departed for the Wall Street Journal on January 20.
