Not being inside the head of Fox News producer Chris White, we can't say why he decided to make and run Wednesday's embarrassing anti-Obama segment, but one theory is that he was giddy on his way out, having been offered a job at CNN. Not anymore.

The New York Times' Jeremy W.Peters broke the news Thursday that CNN had offered White a job before the segment aired, "But on Thursday, a CNN spokeswoman said that the network would not be hiring him." Pair that coolness with Fox News' own distaste for the video -- an executive told CBS the network hadn't approved it and wouldn't have done so if it had known it was in the works, but he didn't say what action Fox would take -- and you get potentially serious career damage for White. This is one argument for not going out with a bang when you change jobs.
