Floyd Mayweather lived up to his nickname last night. The boxer, who sometimes goes by "Money" Mayweather, made $32 million in guaranteed money for his fight against Miguel Cotto. Floyd's payday is an all-time record, surpassing the $30 million that Mike Tyson was guaranteed for his second fight against Evander Holyfield (yes, it's the fight you're thinking of). Mayweather also stands to make even more, thanks to his promotional company Mayweather Promotions, which participated in the planning of the fight. Mayweather will also take home part of the pay-per-view profit, and part of the event's gate. The fight was one of the most competitive fights in Mayweather career. His nose was bloodied in the fifth round, and Cotto chopped away at him with body shots all night. Crisp punching and stunning accuracy from the undefeated Mayweather earned him a unanimous decision in the fight that lasted 36 minutes. To make things even stranger, Floyd starts a 90 day jail sentence on June 1.
