Hackers Slap Porn on The Daily Caller

Right-leaning politics site The Daily Caller rarely shies away from publishing risqué photographs (see: "Obama's hottest celebrity donors"), but this morning the site's homepage ventured into new territory: Hardcore porn. Apparently Tucker Carlson's site was hacked, according to a statement given to FishbowlDC's Betsy Rothstein, and the perpetrators slapped ads for hardcore porn sites on the top banner, visible to all iPhone and iPad readers. (If you visit the site now, a scary warning/error sign appears.) “One of the accounts on our ad server was hacked, and as a result someone was able to place those inappropriate ads on our site,” The Caller's spokeswoman Nicole Roeberg said. "The problem with the ads has been fixed, and as soon as Google does another crawl of our site, the error message should go away."

When asked if the growing site was experimenting with a new XXX revenue stream, Roeberg ruled it out. "Obviously, we would never intend to run ads like this on our site.” Good thing: Otherwise a future Romney administration might have to "vigorously" crack down on the site.
