Donald Trump's Latest Concept: Loser Salon, the Website for Losers

John Hudson 927 Views Aug 15, 2012

Today, real estate mogul, Reality TV starbirth certificate verifier, and theater critic Donald Trump discovered that attacking liberal bloggers doesn't have quite the same effect as, say, going after moderate Republicans.

"Lightweight reporter Alex Pareene@pareene is known as a total joke in political circles,"  The Donald tweeted in response to Pareene's article calling him an "oft-bankrupt make-believe mogul clown" and mocking his Republican convention plans. "Hence, he writes for Loser Salon.@Salon." Sure, it was typical Trump trolling, but this tweet provided cause for celebration ("Everyone on Twitter is super jealous of @pareene right now" tweeted BuzzFeed's Andrew Kaczynksi) and spawned @LoserSalon, an anonymous, very whiny Twitter account embodying the essence of what a Loser Salon might be:

But both efforts appear to be self-defeating. Pareene is now celebrating: "I was hoping the first universally loathed NBC personality to publicly call me out would be the monkey from 'Animal Practice,' but I'll settle for Trump," he told Politico's Dylan Byers. And not only did Jake Tapper, who used to be a Salon staffer way back in the day, never return the account's affection, but Twitter executives shut down the account in a hurry. When will Loser Salon ever win?
