Where Does Ann Curry Fit in at CNN?

Jeff Zucker isn't going to be starting as the boss at CNN until after the new year, which means right about now is the time when we all get to work ourselves into a lather about who he's promoting, who he's firing, what the new lineup will look like, and today's big TV-news news: Is he going to hire Ann Curry, America's favorite jilted anchor? "Zucker — the former executive producer of Today and one-time NBC Universal head — is interested in installing Curry in CNN’s 8 p.m. time slot, we hear, which is currently occupied by Anderson Cooper," reads the report from the sometimes reliable gang at Page Six.

The move, if it happens, would actually be a good one. Even though she was dismissed by the Today show, Curry came out on the winning end — fans rallied behind her and Today's ratings have dropped. (And we've seen NBC try, very publicly and on several occasions, to take the bullet for Matt Lauer.)

Now let's play out this game of musical chairs for a bit:

If Curry gets Cooper's spot, that leaves Cooper, his blue eyes, and his black t-shirts out in the cold.

But it does give Zucker the perfect male co-anchor to pair with Erin Burnett for a morning show — a rumor that was floating around earlier this week. We'd watch that. She'd make him giggle, right?

And superstar Soledad O'Brien could still fit in there somewhere, presumably taking Burnett's 9 p.m. time slot.

Of course... "There is no shortage of rumors about what Jeff will do. He doesn't start until late January, and any speculation at this point is just silly," CNN's rep told Page Six. Oh, right, we're getting ahead of ourselves.
