The Daily's Not-So-Fond Farewell

Rebecca Greenfield 415 Views Dec 14, 2012

To honor The Daily's last day in existence, some members of its remaining staff have created this video sign-off — to the tune of The Sound of Music's "So Long, Farewell" — and, well, it's sad:

The clip tries to make light of the demise of the tablet-only newspaper (and all the jobs that will go down with it), as one faux-crying employee downs a bottle of champagne under his desk. But, really, underneath the beloved tune and mediocre jokes, the macabre act reeks of resentment, with lines like "regretfully they tell us, we're closing they e-mail us." Yeesh. At least the "bold experiment" ended with something else... bold.
