Prince Pens a Vikings Victory Song

John Hudson Jan 22, 2010
Some celebrities make Haiti their cause. Others opt for the Minnesota Vikings. Pop superstar Prince has written a song for his hometown football team that debuted Thursday night. He scribbled the tune "Silver and Gold" after watching the Vikings overcome the Dallas Cowboys from his skybox last week.

In a departure from his lyrical mainstays (e.g. lovemaking and debauchery), Prince's song features veiled references to football:
The veil of the sky draws open, the roar of the chariots touch down... We r the truth if the truth can b told, long reign the purple and gold...We r all amped up like a rock n roll band, ready 2 celebrate every score.

Will the new song lead the Vikings to victory? Their next game is this Sunday against the New Orleans Saints. The winner goes on to the Super Bowl.
