He is directly supporting Mr. Limbaugh and his endeavors — his future happiness! — by agreeing to perform at the man's wedding. It will be Rush who writes out the check to Elton for the seven-figure sum; money that, let's all face, Elton doesn't really need. And even if his intention was to donate the cash to a LGBT youth group, it's already bloody money, and tainted. We don't need to revisit Rush's entire history to remind you how he's used his radio show to taunt queer public officials, public citizens, and even families. However, others noted that Limbaugh's favorable stance on gay civil unions isn't all that different from, say, Barack Obama's. And John, for his part, has always been willing to entertain those he might disagree with. The LA Times' Christie D'Zurilla writes:

Perhaps conservative and liberal streams can indeed cross without creating a rip in the space-time continuum... According to Zev Chafets, author of a new book about the radio host, Limbaugh "regards homosexuality as, most probably, biologically determined, and while he opposes gay marriage as culturally subversive, he has no problem with gay civil unions -- which is the stance of President Obama and Hillary Clinton.
