Bush-era Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is a mean pianist when it
comes to Tchaikovsky and Brahms (it's true), but she's hardly the first
person you'd think to ask to play accompaniment for an Aretha Franklin
fundraiser. But that's just what happened on Tuesday night, when the
Republican ex-official warmed up to the Queen of Soul with some Mozart,
before ripping into the up-tempo Say a Little Prayer.
Though their politics diverge (Franklin endorsed Obama), the duo agree
on aesthetics, at least. Rice and Franklin came together to promote music and the
