Baseball is the national pastime. But would it benefit from more kicking and punching? That's the question bloodlust enthusiasts are pondering today in the wake of last night's bench-clearing brawl between the Cincinnati Reds and St. Louis Cardinals. Bleacher Report's Mike Pendleton, for one, liked what he saw.

Brandon] Phillips mouthing off about the Cardinals is exactly what
baseball needed," argues Pendleton. "Get a little mean, talk some trash
and fight for first and that's how all eyes turn on baseball."
