Barack Obama: Children's Author?

Ray Gustini Sep 14, 2010
War, formal events, and the nuclear football have historically prevented the president of the United States from making meaningful contributions to children's literature. (The exception being Zachary Taylor, who is rumored to have played a vital rolein creating "The Berenstain Bears.") Credit Barack Obama with reversing precedent. Knopf will publish "Of Thee I Sing," the president's new history book for kids "ages three and up" on Nov. 16, two weeks after the midterm elections. Featuring illustrations by Loren Long ("The Little Engine that Could"), the book is expected to make its debut as a Rush Limbaugh punchline later this afternoon.
