Happy Hour Vid: Sarah Palin Tells Politico Reporters to 'Man Up'

Erik Hayden 179 Views Nov 1, 2010

Yet another Politico article targeting Sarah Palin has riled up the ex-vice presidential candidate and inspired an energetic outcry from her defenders. Politico's Mike Allen and Jim VandeHei penned a work heavily reliant on comments from Republican advisers who remained anonymous to avoid "the wrath of conservative grass-roots activists who are enthralled with the former Alaska governor." Mitt Romney, Michael Steele and Rudy Giuliani quickly told these GOP sources to "shut up" and Greta Van Susteren joined the growing backlash from there.

In an interview with Sarah Palin moments after the article was published, Van Susteren grills the Politico duo, calling the work "horrific," "trash," and "bizarre" while noting that the journalists "shamed themselves." Palin couldn't agree more, deploring the "yellow journalism" of the piece, taking shots at Karl Rove and arguing that Allen and Vanderhei should  just "man up" and level the claims at her without the use of anonymous sources. Eventually, Palin poses this question (and Greta Van Susteren didn't disagree): "When did this become real journalism? Where you can cite anonymous sources?"
