Strange Bedfellows

Rahm Emanuel: Wilco Fan

Ray Gustini 50 Views Nov 11, 2010
Rahm Emanuel used to be White House Chief of Staff. Before that he helped Democrats take control of the House of Representatives, which they will never lose, ever. Now he's running for mayor of Chicago, which means people will ask him questions like, "What's your favorite local band?" hoping he'll blurt out "Chicago!" and look silly. No such luck. When Time Out Chicago put this question to Emanuel in a recent interview, he cited Wilco, adding that frontman Jeff Tweedy is also his "favorite local artist." Continued Emanuel:

"When they played all of their albums over the course of five days at the Riviera a couple years back, I made it to three shows and regret that I couldn’t make the other two."

And that was how the hipster vote was won.
