We Are Reaching Peak Everything, Including Maple Syrup

Heather Horn 174 Views Nov 19, 2010
Remember that talk about chocolate getting as expensive as caviar? Remember the whisperings over rare earths? The end of cheap oil, and with it, cheap food? You may have noticed a lot of stories about reaching the apex of productivity for some commodity or other. Discover certainly has--hence a slideshow posted by Jennifer Welsh: "Is This the Peak of Peak Panic?" Putting it all together, she shows that, if the media is to be believed, things are all downhill from here for chocolate, phosphorus, oil, rare earths, maple syrup, and honey. Have a look.

Brilliant parody or fair warning: take your pick. There's nothing wrong with laughing and then stocking up on Ritter bars. And maple syrup. And honey. And phosphorus, oil, and rare earths.
