Why Are Comic Books Obsessed with Sarah Palin?

The media's obsession with Sarah Palin is the talk of the town these days. Last Monday, The New York Times' Ross Douthat advised the media and Palin to "go their separate ways." On Friday, The Washington Post's Dana Milbank doubled down, declaring February a "Palin-free month."  Some agreed with Milbank and Douthat. Some did not. But nobody brought up an important sidebar: Should comic books avoid Palin too?

As BuzzFeed's RobotPsychiatrist points out, the ascent of Alaska's former governor has launched an entire cottage industry of Palin-infused comic books (Steampunk Palin being our favorite):
