In a world of inequalities, at least one instance of gender discrepancy is no more. Nathan's Hot Dogs last week announced a women-only category of its famous July 4 hot dog-eating competition with a prize pool equal to one quarter of the men's category. Today, the Coney Island-based hot dog chain said it would now fund the women's and men's competitions equally: There will be $20,000 in prize money available in each category, with $10,000 going to the first-place winner, instead of just $5,000 available in the women's category with a first prize of $2,500.
