When the British Royal Family took the step of installing "signal-blocking technology" in Westminster Abbey this week, TV networks supported the decision, because they wanted to avoid what The Daily Mail called "unfortunate sightings of guests on their phones." So far it doesn't seem to be working. Here's the scene in the chapel just before 11 a.m local time. Note the women in hats on the left side of the photo.

Oh dear. What our cell phone camera picture doesn't show is the man with the receding hairline in the middle flipping out at the woman in the white hat two seconds later and then looking to the rafters, like he was worried about a Blackberry sniper. Also, that former Prime Minister John Major entering on the right in the blue tie.
