Here at The Atlantic Wire, we respect and value the social media editors who share the links that make our jobs easier. Sometimes, though, we have no idea what they're talking about. So after a day of staring at Twitter, we're sharing our favorite head-scratchers. Today, the selections come from two of our favorite feeds: @BBCNews and @TMZ. They seldom match up when it comes to subject or tone, but both have an uncanny ability to produce the same reaction.

Note the very different types of infractions the two feeds cover. The BBC story involves a disrupted legal proceeding, while TMZ is all about pop idols who throw up in foreign countries. But there style of delivery? Very, very similar.

The 'Elizabeth Cross' in question isn't a person, but a medal given to members of the British Armed Forces. Similarily, the 'massive rock' mentioned by TMZ isn't an expensive engagement ring, she's a human lady named Nancy Shevell.

It's worth noting that the headline on accompanying TMZ's photo of the pontiff on a gondola was "the Pope floats." BBC's fancy "newspaper review," meanwhile, is actually a gossip column round-up. Maybe they're not so different after all.
