Everyone's favorite scare-you-to-death crime show, America's Most Wanted, has been rescued from obsolescence by Lifetime. Fox cancelled the real crime show starring John Walsh in May, though they'll still host the four planned two-hour specials throughout the year. When her network took the reins, Lifetime president Nancy Dubuc said, "For more than two decades John Walsh has been leading the fight against crime and it's an honor to partner with him on bringing back this important show." And in a weird way, the venue couldn't be more appropriate. As New York magazine's Vulture blog put it, "There's certainly nothing Lifetime watchers value more than feeling informed when it comes to the world's endless variety of horrible, violent crimes, and the frequency with which they affect people just like them."

It's true, though. John Walsh actually started the show when his only child was murdered after being abducted from a Sears department store in 1981. Now in its 25th year, America's Most Wanted has captured over 1,100 fugitives across the world. "We've often been called the court of last resort," Walsh told The Hollywood Reporter. "Now we are back in the game and ready to saddle up for another season to get justice for victims and put dangerous criminals behind bars."
