We realize there's only so much time one can spend in a day watching trailers, viral videos, shaky cell phone footage, and people arguing on television. This is why The Atlantic Wire highlights the day's video clips that truly earn your five minutes (or less) of attention.

When people say David Letterman was a bad Academy Awards host, they don't mean it in the way Jon Stewart was sort of a non-entity. He bombed. Which is why we're encouraged to see this year's host Eddie Murphy showing up on the Late Show and talking shop. Because we haven't had an Oscars host as enjoyably uncooperative as Letterman managed to be. It was, and it sounds like Murphy's going to go down the same road. He's already refusing to participate in dance, which should a good 45 minutes off the telecast at least. [CBS]

Roland Emmerich is taking a lot of heat from the Shakespeare Trust about his new movie calling Shakespeare a fraud. Give Emmerich credit, though: hie energy for inventing alternate, vaguely sinister histories rarely flags. By the middle of the junket, he's already spitballing about how "the only thing we knew that is true about Elizabeth is by like, kind of like ambassadors, who like reported home to their kings that her teeth were kind of like totally, you know, kind of dark. And that she, you know, opened her blouse a lot because she was hot and uncomfortable." [Hit Fix]

Has there ever been an actor better than Tom Cruis at repelling down a skyscrapers/rock sheet/high speed elevated trains? No there has not. In case you were in doubt, the behind-the-scenes feature for the new Mission: Impossible movie should be enough to convince you, yeah, he's still got it when it comes to falling off stuff.
