On Monday night, Jon Stewart took a familiar tack, skewering GOP leaders for promptly deeming the withdrawal of all U.S. troops from Iraq a failure. After all, he notes, the agreement between the two nations for a December 31, 2011 date was signed by George W. Bush, and Obama was merely honoring the document. In particular, Stewart lingers on the logic of Michele Bachmann, who--in the clips the host played--expressed disapproval that U.S. troops were being pulled out of Iraq but also warned about getting involved in a foreign entanglement in Libya. He concludes: "For god's sake, in like three days Obama has taken us down from three wars to one," and after a pause, he quips: "Is that what's going on here? Are America's hawks having empty nest syndrome?"
