After becoming the face of diabetes-inducing cuisine, Food Network personality Paula Deen confirmed on Tuesday's Today show that she has known about having Type 2 diabetes for three years and used the occasion to start pitching diabetes drugs for Novo Nordisk. "I had to figure things out in my own head," Deen told Al Roker, explaining why she only decided to come clean about her metabolic disease now. On Friday, The Daily had accurately reported on Deen's diabetes and her diabetic drug deal, though they named the wrong company, Novartis. (Novartis and Novo Nordisk have worked together on a diabetes medication in the past). Deen (video below) ended the interview by saying that she's an entertainer and that she doesn't always eat the food she's cooking on the show. "Honey I'm your cook, not your doctor." Deen said. "I've always encouraged moderation." We beg to differ.
