Four hours after GQ tweeted out Michael Silver's oral history of Tim Tebow's 2011 regular season, Denver Broncos backup quarterback Brady Quinn has announced he's sorry, so very sorry, for what he said. Quinn is quoted as saying "luck" played a role in his teammate's success and that Tebow's  tendency to pray near TV cameras after making a big play doesn't entirely square with his "I'm just happy to be here" humility. 

Quinn disavowed those comments on Twitter in the span of an afternoon. Quinn pointed out that the interview with Silver was "conducted three months ago," prior to the team making the playoffs and beating the Pittsburgh Steelers in the Wild Card round. He also says the article—which isn't exactly pro-Tebow—is "[a] completely inaccurate portrayal of my comments," which suggests he might not appreciate the rich tapestry of insight a good oral history can provide. (It's also worth noting he doesn't say he was misquoted.) He emphasizes that Tebow is "a great teammate" and states he's already "reached out to Tim to clear this up," lest Tebow believe the man who, by definition, would like to take his job, has anything but love and admiration for him.
