Jon Stewart Gives Passover a Makeover

The Daily Show with Jon Stewart

"We've already conceded defeat in the Christmas v. Hanukkah kerfuffle," Jon Stewart joked last night on The Daily Show. And with Passover and Easter coinciding this year, Stewart realizes that Jewish people are losing Round 2 of the Judeo-Christian Holiday Showdown, too. How can the sad story of slavery, celebrated with props like horseradish and a lamb's bone, compete with chocolate bunnies that lay candy eggs? Even the White House, which celebrated its own seder, pulled out all the stops for the Christians' high holy day with the Harlem Globetrotters and a parade of cartoon characters hanging out at the White House with Al Roker. With that, Stewart makes some modest proposals for revamping Passover.
