Update, April 5, 9:55 AM EST: A spokeswoman for Wiig and Sudekis has issued a statement that reads, in part, "There is no truth to this rumor on both Jason and Kristen’s behalf.”
If Us Weekly's sources are correct (and, really, when are they ever wrong?), three of Saturday Night Live's biggest stars might be leaving the show at the end of this season.
The magazine has heard whispers that Kristen Wiig, definitely the show's biggest star (arguably even before Bridesmaids), Jason Sudeikis, who's been taking big roles in movies lately and dating every pretty blonde actress from here to Bora Bora, and Andy Samberg, whose Digital Shorts (created with his comedy team The Lonely Island) helped reinvigorate the show for a new age back in the aughts, might all be flying the coop. That would be a pretty significant loss for the show, one it might be hard to bounce back from. Especially considering how heavily Wiig is used and now much the show clearly depends on the Digital Shorts becoming Web sensations. And, uh, we'd miss you too, Jason.
Of course one of Wiig's and Sudeikis' people has told Us Weekly that "No decisions are made until the season is over," but that could easily just be a bit of gentle politicking. The clock has been ticking on Wiig's departure, at least, for some time now, so this would make sense.
If they do leave, sure does put a lot of pressure on the new girl, huh?
