A couple of commenters touched on a good point tangential to Jen Doll's No Sympathy For the Singles, but we're only featuring the one that taught us a new word.

It was worth pointing out, as several did, that not only do singles have different constraints on their time than marrieds but they have to pay more too, comparatively. Nihilicious wrote:

I think there is a lot of truth to this. There is no economy of scale as a single. It takes just as long to: do groceries, make meals, clean the bathroom, walk/feed the dog, in a one or two person house, and rent, heat, internet, water & electricity all cost virtually the same to a bachelor as to a couple.

But I will concede that offering 'switching from inflexible Job A to flexible Job B' as a solution is pure casuistry.

Casuistry:  "1) a resolving of specific cases of conscience, duty, or conduct through interpretation of ethical principles or religious doctrine 2) specious argument; rationalization." Casuistry.
