'I'm Not Buying That The Internet Is Nicer Than It Was in 2003'

Jen Doll's post on Internet niceness was sure to bring out the haters, and a commenter called Reader3333 countered Doll's assessment that the Internet has gotten practically saccharine this way:

Sorry, but until Gawker and Wonkette and everyone who copies their style are gone, then I'm not buying that the Internet is nicer than it was in 2003. And if your Twitter stream has gotten too bland, I can give you some people to follow who will argue with you at the drop of the hat.

He or she isn't wrong, but it's worth remembering that Gawker has been moving beyond its signature nastiness of late, possibly even joining the niceness brigade. We, of course, thought Reader3333's comment was brilliant, just the nicest thing ever. Thank you!
