The shootings in Aurora, Colorado are impacting Gangster Squad, the upcoming Warner Bros. release featuring Ryan Gosling and Sean Penn. According to The New York Post's Page Six, executives are trying to figure out what they're going to do with a troublesome and way-too-familiar scene in their new film Gangster Squad where mobsters fire on, you guessed it, a movie theater. Page Six notes the studio may recut the film and/or delay its release, which had been set for September 7. The 1940's crime flick, which also features Emma Stone, has already put Warner Bros. in a difficult situation since that cinema-shooting scene was in trailers that were attached to the The Dark Knight Rises. The studio attention for pulling those trailers over the weekend, though the AP reports that the trailers weren't fully pulled until the end of Saturday. It's safe to say that the unfortunate scene isn't a matter of Warner Bros. executives, producers, and Gangster's director, Ruben Fleischer, being ham-fisted (since the film was already completed before the shooting), but rather an unfortunate coincidence. Earlier this year, Fox faced a similar timing problem with The Watch and its perceived similarity to the Trayvon Martin shooting, prompting a title change. The Daily Mail has also reported that Gosling and Josh Brolin were also reshooting scenes this weekend, though the scene described doesn't sound like the movie theater-shooting scene in question.
