It's easy to laugh at Clint Eastwood's loony speech at the Republican National Convention because he was held up as a serious commentator and then delivered, well, this. But some commenters took something close to the high road on Alex Abad-Santos's post about how nobody in the Romney campaign wanted to cop to arranging the Eastwood show. As commenter Carmen Sandiego wrote:
Is it weird that I feel bad for Clint Eastwood? It feels like making fun of my grandfather or something, IDK IDK.
Yeah, the guy is an old man, and making fun of him for acting like one is mean. It's only the fact he was pushed up there to deliver some kind of oratorial K.O. that makes him a target, and that's not really his fault.
