Maybe you didn't know, but Jay-Z and Beyonce held a fundraiser for the President in New York this week. And Ann Romney's been telling people to go easier on her husband. Enter the Saturday Night Live writers, who took both of those events and swung for the fences this week.
Kate McKinnon, not quite a SNL rookie because she debuted late last year, killed in a segment of this week's Weekend Update doing an impression of Ann Romney. Dressed in what's becoming her trademark red dress, She wasted no time attacking Barack and Michelle for their fabulous lifestyle. Ann goes in on the President's friendship with Jay-Z and "Bay-on-say." "Is hanging out with Jay-Z and Beyonce a thing regular people do now?" she asks. "Everyone's always saying I'm unrelatable because I had a horse in the olympics. Well let me tell you what, I would kill that horse if I could meet Beyonce." There's a bit at the start about how the Romneys are disappointed they're missing apple picking season ("It's like Mormon Mardi Gras") that's pretty great, too. We appreciate her love for apple picking season. She moves on to the potential candidates Republicans could have chosen ("Ron Paul? That lunatic's probably still running because he doesn't understand how voting works") instead of her husband. Bill Hader makes a potentially scene-stealing appearance as Rick Perry, too.
