Announcements about halftime performers do not usually come this early in the football season, but an unnamed source has leaked word that Beyonce will play Super Bowl XLVII's halftime show. AP broke the news through a source who "spoke on condition of anonymity because that person wasn't authorized to publicly reveal the information." The official announcement was slated for Wednesday, which is still a very early announcement, compared with ones from the last few years. For instance, we didn't learn that Madonna would perform at the last Super Bowl until early December, and the year before that, the Black Eyed Peas weren't announced until late November. Maybe excited Super Bowl halftime show organizers decided to jump the gun because this is the first, ahem, good choice they've made in a long time.
These performances usually feature an abundance of guest appearances. A Jay-Z cameo is a given, but could we also be in for a Destiny's Child reunion? Longtime Beyonce fans with good memories will recall that she sang the national anthem at the 2004 Super Bowl.
Update, 4:55 pm: Beyonce has confirmed the news on her Tumblr, ever so stylishly.
