Jen Doll rounded up the year's worst words today, giving many disgruntled grammarians an opportunity to vent about their least favorite linguistic developments. While some can't stand it when people turn nouns into verbs, one of our commenters set off on a mini-rant about noun-ified verbs.
This is probably idiomatic to my particular industry, but the tendency to use verbs as nouns made my blood boil this year:
"What was the ask?"
"That's a good solve"
"Do you have any builds on what was just presented?"
Whatever industry you're talking about, pdavidcATL, we commend you for being able to work in such a grammatically grating field.
