Why Lena Dunham Thanked Chad Lowe in Her Golden Globes Acceptance Speech

When Lena Dunham accepted the award for Best Television Comedy at the Golden Globes on Sunday night — her second win of a big night for Girls — she remembered to thank obscure actor Chad Lowe. See video below, but ... wait, what? Well, Lowe was famously not thanked by then wife Hilary Swank when she won the Best Actress Oscar for Boys Don't Cry in 2000. Dunham explained the joke in the press room after her wins:

But, hey, at least now Lowe is getting some love, and he was grateful:

Though in the end Argo may have won Best Picture, perhaps it was really Lowe's big night:
