That headline is not a metaphor. Michael Bay's favorite bombshell, Megan Fox, will play sexy reporter April O'Neil in Paramount's reboot of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise. As Variety's Justin Kroll reported on Thursday night. "Jonathan Liebesman will direct with Michael Bay producing through his Platinum Dunes banner. Michael Bay tweeted the news on his blog." Which is a funny way of putting it since Bay doesn't have a Twitter account, and one typically does not "tweet on his blog." We assume Variety is referring to this post on Michael Bay Dot Com, the explosion-loving director's official website. In Bay's words, "TMNT: we are bringing Megan Fox back into the family!"

This is good news for nerds everywhere. On a higher level, it's a sign that the TNMT movie is actually going to happen after all. There was some doubt when the filmmakers delayed the previously scheduled October 2012 shoot date, and even at that point, things weren't entirely copasetic, when Bay revealed that he planned to adjust the turtles' origin story pretty dramatically. Rather than maintain the near-three-decade-old narrative that the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were created when a radioactive substance spilled onto four actual turtles, Bay's version stipulates that they came from outer space, because of course it does. "These turtles [in the reboot] are from an alien race, and they're going to be tough, edgy, funny, and completely lovable," explained the director last March.

The movie is slated to hit theaters some time this holiday season. Now that Fox is on board, the next step is to start finding the male lead(s) and actually start making the dang thing. Can't wait to see who plays Shredder.
