Morning Vid: General McChrystal's Kabul Classroom

Max Fisher Mar 12, 2010
General Stanley McChrystal is the four-star commander of the allied forces in Afghanistan. He leads over a hundred thousand troops in one of the most complex and difficult wars in American history. As an increasingly public figure, he is sometimes caught in the middle of debate over the U.S. politics surrounding the war. So it's a bit surprising that McChrystal took the time to produce eight YouTube videos laying out his ambitious counterinsurgency strategy for winning hearts and minds in Afghanistan. It's just the general, and white board, and a camera.

Given that McChrystal's forces spend over a billion dollars a month, the production quality is a bit lower than you might expect. But he touches on nearly every debate (except for the really controversial ones) that have arisen relating to the war.
