California Homegrown Terror Cell: Could They Have Done Real Harm?
A cafe bombing in the Moroccan city of Marrakech today has killed 14 people and injured 20 in what could be the country's deadliest terrorist attack in eight years. So far the government is merely deeming it a "criminal act" though media reports suspect it could be terrorism considering that the cafe was a popular expat hub; The nationalities of the victims is not yet known. The Associated Press notes that the country has largely been peaceful in the years since the 2003 terrorist bombing in Casablanca that killed 45 people. A honeymooning Londoner tells the news agency "There was a huge bang, and lots of smoke went up, there was debris raining down from the sky. Hundreds of people were running in panic, some towards the cafe, some away from the square. The whole front of the cafe is blown away."
