The Egyptian revolution successfully ousted President Hosni Mubarak from power, but Mubarak is still in Egypt--under house arrest at a presidential palace in the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh. The military has detained Mubarak's former chief of staff on corruption allegations but so far hasn't prosecuted Mubarak himself.

So, in Cairo on Friday, tens of thousands of Egyptians decided to take matters into their own hands, holding a mock trial for Mubarak in Tahrir Square. The protesters, according to the Associated Press, set up a cage on a stage with the pictures of Mubarak, his family, and close advisers inside, as one activist read charges against them out loud and the crowd responded, "We testify that Mubarak, his family and their cronies have corrupted Egypt, politically, economically, impoverished the people and committed crimes of torture and killings." The Egyptian newspaper Al Masry Al Youm reports that the head of Alexandria's judges' club presided over the trial. In the picture above, one protester wears a Mubarak mask as he takes his place behind bars. The demonstration was one of the biggest yet since Mubarak ceded power.
