Arab Media Begins to Move On from Bin Laden

Here in the U.S., the media is still very much preoccupied with the figurative bin Laden post-mortem. The Arab world, though, has some other important stuff going on right now too, and the big Arabic-language media outlets have already begun to shift off the bin Laden coverage to focus on the Fatah-Hamas reconciliation, such as Dubai-based network Al Arabiya show above. Bin Laden hasn't disappeared from the news entirely (two Western-oriented publications in Saudi Arabia, Al Hayat and Asharq Al-Awsat, lead with bin Laden) but many don't. Here is a quick survey of home pages right now, the Arabic-language up top and U.S. ones below for comparison.

First, Al Jazeera:

The Egyptian publication Al Ahram understandably focuses on Egypt:

London-based paper Al-Quds Al-Arabi:

Al-Hayat, which aims at a slightly more international audience:

Asharq Al-Awsat, a newspaper with ties to the Saudi royal family, also keeps the focus on bin Laden:
