Dominique Strauss-Kahn may spend another night in jail at New York's Rikers Island after his apartment at the swanky Bristol Plaza fell through today. Under the terms of his release on bail, he's required to stay in a Manhattan apartment, under watch by an armed guard. His wife, Anne Sinclair, had rented the Bristol Plaza pad before his scheduled release today, but when the apartment complex found out who its new tenant was going to be, it backed out of the deal, reports said. Now, if the former International Monetary Fund director can't find another apartment, he may have to stay in jail.

A spokeswoman at the office of New York District Attorney Cyrus Vance said further hearings would take place this afternoon that may affect Strauss-Kahn's release, but she wouldn't confirm whether there was another option for him to spend the night aside from Rikers.

Meanwhile, journalists staking out the exit of the jail are tolerating a day of unpredictable weather and unpredictable news. NBC's Jeff Rosen who had been complaining of the rain on Twitter, is now in better spirits: "Standing outside of Rikers, ordering lunch for NBC News team. CNBC team just offered to pay, 'we're the financial network'..it's on!"

Update (4:20 p.m.): Strauss-Kahn has found a temporary bed that can at least keep him out of jail.
