This Is What Gunfire Sounds Like in Yemen at Night

With more deadly clashes between troops loyal to embattled Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh and rival tribal fighters on Thursday and reports of snipers firing at thousands of protesters gathered in "Change Square," Yemen's capital, Sanaa, is headed for another outbreak of "overnight fighting." What does that look like? Freelance journalist Iona Craig provides a glimpse by snapping a photo, above, of the burning headquarters of Yemen's national airline in the Hasaba neighborhood, as seen from her roof. What does overnight fighting sound like? The YouTube user La7jpress steps in here with a video capturing the discordant sounds of gunfire, explosions, and chirping crickets, all cloaked in darkness:
