Nafissatou Diallo, the maid who accused Dominique Strauss-Kahn of rape, was misquoted in the accounts of a phone call where she reportedly implied she knew DSK was wealthy, according to her lawyer, The New York Times reports. The phone call in question happened the day after the alleged attack. The Times originally reported the District Attorney's office was alarmed with a phone call Diallo placed to an inmate in Arizona where they discussed details of the case. The D.A.'s office were alarmed when a translator told them she said, "Don't worry, this guy has a lot of money. I know what I'm doing." Diallo's lawyer, Kenneth Thompson, was not originally granted access to the tape. Wednesday was the first day Diallo and Thompson sat down with the tape. The new report says the Arizona inmate was the first to bring up gaining anything from the case:

At some point, the man told Ms. Diallo that by moving forward with the case, “you’ll get a lot of money,” Mr. Thompson said. But he insisted that Ms. Diallo made it clear that was not her intention.

“She said, ‘Stop, stop.’ He’s going on and on on the phone about it, she didn’t want to deal with that. She said, ‘Please stop. Wait, wait. The lawyer will get it.’ Meaning, the lawyer would deal with it.”

The version of the attacks given to the caller also corroborate with the version she gave to prosecutors, a huge win for Diallo's legal team. The D.A.'s office declined to comment to The Times. The case was delayed again Tuesday amid suspicion the D.A.'s office would drop the case.
