Lawyers for the Sofitel hotel maid Nafissatou Diallo, who accused former IMF director Dominique Strauss-Kahn of sexual assault, have officially demanded that a special prosecutor be appointed to the casee, reports The Wall Street Journal. Diallo's lawyers had previously asked attorney Cyrus Vance to recuse his office from the case, as we reported, but the current motion makes the request more official. Diallo's lawyers claim Vance's leaked "false information to the press that may have irreparably damaged Ms. Diallo's credibility," undermining the case, reports WSJ.
Tomorrow the Manhattan DA is expected to announce that the charges will be dismissed. The approval for special prosecution is unlikely.
