Rudolf Brazda, who was thought to be the last living person interned at a Nazi concentration camp for homosexuality, died on Wednesday at the age of 98, the Associated Press reported. The German gay and lesbian rights organization, LSVD, announced the news. In July, German media outlet Der Spiegel published a lengthy profile of Brazda, in which he described the Nazi investigation into his case and his subsequent sentence to the Buchenwald concentration camp. When asked whether he was afraid of death in an interview for a book chronicling his life, he responded to the author Alexander Zinn, "Everyone has lived his own life, and I have lived mine," he answers. "The main thing is to be happy."
