An official with Libya's National Transitional Council is claiming that Muammar Qaddafi's son Saif al-Islam is ready to turn himself in to the International Criminal Court in The Hague, according to Reuters. The NTC has been the source of many dubious rumors about the Qaddafis and an ICC spokesperson says they have no confirmation of the proposal. The official that spoke to Reuters, Abdel Majid Mlegta, claimed that he had intelligence that Saif and former intelligence chief Abdullah al-Senussi want to hand themselves over. Reuters wrote that Mlegta said this was because the country of Niger--where al-Islam was reportedly fleeing to--"was asking for too much money for them to stay." Mlegta told the news outlet: "They are proposing a way to hand themselves over to The Hague ... They feel that it is not safe for them to stay where they are or to go anywhere."
